これもやってみたのですが、

/etc/postfix/master.cf:
  cyrus     unix  -       n       n       -       -       pipe
    flags=R user=cyrus argv=/usr/cyrus/bin/deliver -e -m ${extension} ${user}

/etc/postfix/main.cf:
  mailbox_transport = cyrus

やはりdeferされていました。

Jan 16 17:01:16 myhostname postfix/pipe[245]: 0207324D3D: to=
<myusername@mydomain>, relay=cyrus, delay=3, status=deferred 
(temporary failure. Command output: couldn't connect to lmtpd: 
Undefined error: 0_ 421 4.3.0 deliver: couldn't connect to lmtpd_ )

master.cfにも

># The Cyrus deliver program has changed incompatibly.

と書いてある通り、deliverの仕様が変わっているのでしょうか。

ちなみにman deliver(8)は

>SYNOPSIS
>       deliver [ -C config-file ] [ -d ] [ -r address ]
>               [ -f address ] [ -m mailbox ] [ -a auth-id ]
>               [ -q ] [ userid ]...
>       deliver [ -C config-file ] -l

となっています。
